Sara - Custom

I met Sara years ago through mutual friends. Shout out to Emily, the friend who is pretty much the reason I met my husband! Sara is a laid back kind of gal who knew exactly what she wanted.

Sara's inspiration came from a photo of Audrey Hepburn wearing this beautiful drop waist wedding dress, from the movie Funny Face (1957). Sara shared with me that she tried on quit a few "retro" styles, but they were not quit right...

That is where I come in! I met with Sara and already had a sketch idea in mind. I scooped the front and back to give coverage on the bust and had chiffon drapey off shoulder sleeves which wrapped around to meet the zipper in the back. The zipper was covered with buttons! We kept the drop waist idea and layered 4 layers of gathered tulle. I created a matching bird cage veil to top off the look. I also created a matching flower girl dress. We used the bridesmaid swatches in the fabric flower accents on the waistline of the dress.

Sara was super accommodating especially since she took the train from NJ for fittings... One of our appointments I picked her up and whisked her right to the shop to try on the bodice before completing the next steps for the following days fittings. Sara was a dream to work with. I just love the color and shilouette we created. This dressed matched her personality perfectly!

Thank You Sara, for allowing me to be apart of your day. xo Sheila

Sheila took that inspiration, worked her creative magic (those gorgeous sleeves!) and the result was something s’marvelous, truly unique, and most importantly — 100% me.
